1. What is IVF Treatment?

IVF treatment is a reproductive method in which male and female reproductive cells are combined in a laboratory environment to achieve fertilization. After fertilization, the embryo is placed in the mother’s womb.

2. Who is Eligible for IVF Treatment?

IVF treatment is applied to couples who cannot achieve pregnancy naturally. Particularly women with blocked fallopian tubes, men with low sperm quality, and unexplained infertility cases are candidates for this treatment.

3. How Many Times Can IVF Treatment Be Attempted?

There is no upper limit to the number of IVF cycles a couple can undergo. Most couples will choose to have at least 3 to 6 IVF cycles if pregnancy has not been achieved in the first 2 attempts. However, if there is no pregnancy despite multiple IVF attempts, couples may pursuit as many IVF cycles as they wish as long as their doctor ensures them of a fair chance of success.

4. Until What Age Can IVF Treatment Be Applied?

Although pregnancy chances decrease after the age of 40, IVF treatment can typically be performed until the age of 45.

5. How Long Does IVF Treatment Take?

Treatment duration varies depending on the protocol used. Generally, the period from starting medications to embryo transfer ranges from 15-25 days.

6. Are Babies Born Through IVF Treatment Healthy?

Babies born through IVF treatment show no differences from naturally conceived babies in terms of genetic and structural abnormalities. However, genetic counseling is recommended for couples carrying genetic risks.

7. What Factors Affect Success in IVF Treatment?

Factors affecting success include maternal age, ovarian reserve, embryo quality, structural uterine problems, and genetic factors.

8. Is Sexual Intercourse Recommended During IVF Treatment?

Sexual intercourse is not recommended during certain periods of treatment. Sexual abstinence is particularly recommended for specific periods before and after egg retrieval and embryo transfer.

9. Who Should Consider Genetic Screening in IVF Treatment?

Genetic screening may be recommended for couples with recurrent pregnancy losses, genetic disease history, and women of advanced age.

10. What Preparations Should Be Made for IVF Treatment?

Before treatment, smoking and alcohol should be stopped, healthy nutrition should be maintained, and stress should be avoided. Additionally, all tests recommended by the doctor should be completed thoroughly.
