Nutrition during IVF treatment is a crucial factor affecting the success of the treatment. Avoiding certain foods during this process can be beneficial for both the prospective mother’s and embryo’s health. Here are the foods to avoid during IVF treatment:

  1. Trans Fats Fried and Processed Foods: Trans fats are commonly found in fried foods, processed foods, and baked goods. These types of fats can increase inflammation in the body and negatively affect reproductive health.
  2. Caffeine Coffee and Tea: Caffeine consumption should be limited during IVF treatment. It’s recommended to limit daily caffeine intake to 200 mg, which equals approximately 1-2 cups of coffee.
  3. Alcohol Alcohol consumption has negative effects on reproductive health and should be completely avoided during IVF treatment. Alcohol can adversely affect embryo development and reduce the chances of pregnancy.
  4. Processed Meats Sausage, Salami, Hot Dogs: These types of processed meats should be avoided due to their high preservative and salt content. Processed meats can increase inflammation in the body and negatively affect overall health.
  5. Raw or Undercooked Foods Raw Eggs and Seafood: Raw or undercooked foods can increase the risk of foodborne illnesses. Especially raw eggs and seafood should be avoided.
  6. High-Mercury Fish Shark, Swordfish: These types of fish should be avoided due to their high mercury content. Mercury can harm fetal development and negatively affect pregnancy chances.
  7. Unpasteurized Dairy Products Soft Cheeses: Unpasteurized dairy products can increase the risk of bacterial infections such as listeria. Therefore, unpasteurized milk and dairy products should be avoided.
  8. Excessive Sugary Foods Desserts and Candies: High sugar intake can cause sudden spikes in blood sugar and disrupt hormonal balance. Therefore, consumption of sugary foods should be limited.

Avoiding these foods can help you establish a healthy diet during IVF treatment. Since individual needs may vary, it’s important to consult with a nutritionist or your doctor while creating your personal nutrition plan.
